Grand Nationals: April 23, 2012

The Grand National Pine Car Derby is one of the most exciting national events Master Clubs has each year. Each Club church has the opportunity to enter their twelve fastest cars in this National competition which is held at the First Baptist Church in Milford, Ohio. This year the date of the Grand National is Monday, April 23rd. We expect hundreds of pine cars to be entered in this year’s Grand National Pine Car Derby. This event will be a treat for your whole family. Due to the live broadcast, we will start the race at 7 PM Eastern Time to allow competitors on the west coast to watch after school.
 Four Age Divisions:
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies awarded in each age category:
1st-3rd Grade Boys
1st-3rd Grade Girls
4th-6th Grade Boys
4th-6th Grade Girls

Entry Instructions:

 Pine Car Specifications: All cars raced in the National Derby must have been built from the official Master Club Race Car Kit (81200) for $3.00.

Maximum car size including wheels is 7 inches long and 2.75 inches wide.

Minimum width between wheels is 1.75 inches.

Minimum ground clearance between car and track is 3/8 of an inch.

Maximum car weight is 5 oz. (Metal or wood may be added after the car is complete to maximize this weight.)

No wheel bearings, bushings, springs, starting devices, loose or moving weights or parts are allowed.

Wheels must be mounted with axles purchased from Master Ministries in the Pine Car kit. Axles made from nails will be disqualified from the competition. Suggestion: glue on the hubcaps to prevent losing them in the race.

Each church is allowed to enter up to 12 cars:
1st-3rd grade may enter 3 boy's cars and 3 girl's cars
4th-6th grade may enter 3 boy's cars and 3 girl's cars
Each car must:
Be built from an official Master Club kit according to specifications listed above.
Have a label attached to the underside of the car with the child's full name, grade, gender, and name and address of the church.
With each shipment, please include a digital picture of each of your contestants on a CD disc. Please mark the disc with your church name, city, and state. Must be accompanied with a "bust shot" picture of the child holding the car.
Shipping Instructions:
All cars must be received into our warehouse by April 16, 2012.
Please pack all cars carefully to avoid damage to the cars.
All cars will be shipped back to the sending church after the race if you include $10 per church for return shipping and handling. With each shipment, please include a digital picture of each of your contestants on a CD disc. Please mark the disc with your church name, city, and state. Must be accompanied with a "bust shot" picture of the child holding the car.
